I kick-start my freelance/independent/consulting innings in advertising (and creative communications) shortly, right after I knock off the last few to-dos of my sabbatical and set into motion the first few of the set-up phase. Which is perhaps the perfect time to kick-start Irfanvertising, the advertising series on my blog. And what better way to start off than by talking about the name and logo itself…
It comes from, like my blog name and the other series’ names on my blog, a combination of my name and the theme of the series. And just like the rest, with the intention not to be too forced.
Self-created, just as the blog logo and the other series’ logos.
The font is similar to that in my blog logo, but slightly thinner (Berlin Sans FB vs Berlin Sans FB Demi).
The heart represents my love for advertising and for brands. (My friends and colleagues have said, “For Irfan, Brand Is God”. Ya, maybe that’s the one thing near-agnostic me worships.)
Finally, have given a glow to the text and image, of course, because it looks better, but subconsciously, also to reflect the glow that advertising gives to brands.
Some might say that I could have done better, but do note that I have a copy, not art, background. I do have a design sense (can guide the art director toward a better design/creative), but as far as doing actual design goes, this is the limit a copy guy can go, I guess.
Now, if it’s copy you’re looking for, you should find enough and more in my Irfanvertising posts to come. As they say in advertising, watch this space…
