The Hindu, a paper I love for its quality writing/reading and clean layout, now has an online offering. An exclusive online offering. Before this, it was only rendering its hard-copy version in the digital space.
And it seems to have got everything right in the mix. Since this is Irfanvertising, I shall focus on the ad parts. (But as I’m also a blogger/writer, will also touch upon those bits.)
Advertising first up…
The name is a winner. Thread. Or accurately, thREAD. Standing for The Hindu Read. Thread. A word synonymous with conversations in the digital space. Thread. Something to get things together, and hold them together.
And the logo adds, well, colourful threads of its own. A very now aquamarine colour, with a graphic element indicating the aquamarine stone. Clever. And stands out like a sparkle on Twitter and also as an app (if they plan to go the app way, if they haven’t already, that is; haven’t checked).
And now the writing…
I have just skimmed through the site, but first looks indicate that it’s built on the Hindu brand and then taken it forward. The layout is both clean and contemporary, and they seem to have some quality writers on board here too (most of who are different from the ones in Hindu). It has the necessary people connect by having an author page. And the writing seems to be in the comment/light reading space. Promising.
So, you know what my online (th)reading will be in the days to come…
